Google Strengthens Android Security with Advanced Theft Protection

Google is taking a major step forward in device security for Android users, introducing three innovative theft protection tools starting this week.

Android expert Mishaal Rahman broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that devices like the Xiaomi 14T Pro and select Pixel models will be the first to receive these features. They provide users with more control when their phones are stolen, offering quick lockdown options even when the device is offline.

How the Features Work

The new features are designed to be easy to use. Theft Detection Lock uses Google's AI to detect when your phone is physically taken, instantly locking the device. If the thief cuts off internet access, Offline Device Lock kicks in, securing your phone even when it's not connected.

Remote Lock simplifies locking your phone from a distance. Unlike Google's Find My Device, which requires logging into your Google account, Remote Lock only needs your phone number and a quick security check to lock things down.

According to Rahman, these features will be rolled out globally and will be available on all phones running Android 10 or higher, providing an added layer of security for millions of users. For more information on how to protect your Android device, visit carsnewstoday.
